a) Briefly discuss how all life on earth depends on the sun. We depend on the sun for food as plants need sunlight to make food including many of our staples, for example: wheat, rice, potatoes. Meat production also depends on sun/plants as animals eat grass and grain.

b) Survey plants around the school grounds looking at how trees and smaller plants (including grass) are structured to enable them to capture sunlight through leaves.

c) Reinforce what is happening in a leaf, referring to photosynthesis, and give a simple explanation of the processes involved.
